War Room | Unpaused – Naya Safar

Introduction –

A school is turned into a Covid-19 war room and the teachers, warriors. The overwhelming situation across the country, especially during the second way demanded a centralized monitoring and supply system ( hospital beds, oxygen cylinders ) across various wards / areas of cities. This film is about one such facility.

Synopsis –

Sangeeta Waghmare ( Geetanjali Kulkarni ) is a Math teacher and one of the front line warriors, attending calls from the families and friends of those infected with the virus and in need of emergency services. In between these trying and tiring phone calls, Sangeeta’s friend Rasika ( Gauri Kulkarni ), another volunteer, chats, offers invitation to a virtual ( zoom ) Puja and even cracks jokes with the rest of the warriors.

However, the situation turns palpable after Sangeeta receives a call from the son of a college Principle. He demands immediate hospitalization. However, at that point in time the status for “Available Beds” is zero. When the son calls up again, Sangeeta offers her personal number which is against the protocol of the War Room. She then promises to call him as soon as the bed is available. Hours later, she notices the availability but is hesitant to call up …

Check out Episode 2 of Unpaused – Nayar Safar to know why Sangeeta is reluctant to offer the bed to a needy patient.

Analysis –

Kudos to the art director and his team for designing an authentic war room or maybe it was shot in a live one. The undercurrent of the film is truly high voltage, thanks to the sensible cast and props. Direction complements the situation and the subject, transitioning seamlessly from one epic scene to another while cinematography and especially the movements, filters and lenses amplify the tension in the war room remarkably well. Supporting actors, including Dr. Deshmukh ( Sharvari Deshmukh ) and MHO ( Manoj Kolhatkar ) have done complete justice to their roles.
