Introduction –
The film maker’s subject choice is appreciable, meaningful; however, menopause is no longer a secret, at least not in big cities and big towns. It a phase every woman endures at some point in her life. Fluctuating and hormonal imbalance typically leads to mood swings, sexual abstinence and also gives rise to a host of physical and personality travails, depending on the concerned individual. The film revolves around events born out of this phase.
Synopsis –
The first few scenes of the film attempts to portray Neela ( Sanaya Jamshedji ) a superwoman, a supermom and a super lady but unfortunately fails to do so. A working woman, a caring mother and a super cook / wife combination is an all too familiar situation, at least in India. Scores of women fall into this category. That they are never appreciated is yet another bitter truth. The film does well to show this uncaring and ungrateful attitude.
The next few scenes are reserved for the transformation of Neela. She realizes she is facing “Early Age” menopause. The energy level drops overnight, she begins to lose focus and dedication seems to abandon her. Refusing to have sex is yet another attempt to paint a picture of a woman suffering from this phase. Neela’s husband Rakesh ( Vijay Kabra ) is unhappy with her ( film scores another brownie point here ) and her son Rikki ( Arjit Bhardwaj ) blames her for spoiling his day because Neela fails in her duty ( she oversleeps ) … a little too harsh, and unacceptable.
Does the family make amendments? Does Neela drive home her point? Watch the film to know more.
Analysis –
Coming to the technical aspects … the less said the better. Except for few scenes the film appears dull and dark. Direction and cinematography lacks depth. On the acting front none of the actors impressed us. The timing of dialogs appears flawed while the expressions seemed clichéd. Overall, the film looks and sounds amateurish except for the subject.
